Vickers Well

The Company’s wholly owned Vickers Well project is located in the Eastern Goldfields of Western Australia, approximately 85 kilometres east-northeast of Leinster.

This Greenfields project is situated in the Dingo Range Greenstone Belt, which flanks the southern part of the highly regarded Yandal Belt. The major gold production centre of Darlot lies approximately 35 kilometres to the southwest of the Vickers Well project.

Gold Mineralisation

As recently as 1996, Homestake Gold of Australia was active within the current project area. The presence of significant thicknesses of transported cover sequence has served as a challenge to gold exploration in the region, requiring the use of novel geochemical sampling techniques.

Calcrete sampling returned large zones of weakly anomalous gold, which coincide with regional lineaments interpreted from aeromagnetic data.

Calcrete geochemistry has been demonstrated to be effective as a gold exploration tool in certain geological environments, and has been successfully applied in the discovery of a number of significant gold mines.

Most of the Vickers Well project still remains untested by geochemical sampling, and there is a paucity of bedrock drilling intersections. Hazelwood plans to extend the geochemical sampling to generate gold targets on the tenement, followed by aircore drilling to bedrock at the best targets.

Uranium Mineralisation

Uranium Exploration has previously been conducted at the adjacent Lake Darlot by companies including AFMECO and Western Mining Corporation. Weakly elevated surficial uranium in calcrete anomalism was reported at Lake Darlot, immediately to the west of the current tenement.

Within the Vickers Well project area, surficial calcrete associated with the drainages into Lake Darlot has been mapped over the western parts of the tenement. A drainage channel transects the entire project area from east to west towards Lake Darlot. The geological environment is suitable for roll-front and surficial calcrete styles of Uranium mineralisation.

The existing regional geophysical radiometric data is of insufficient resolution to effectively generate targets for uranium exploration, and Hazelwood intends to fly the Vickers Well project with higher resolution airborne geophysical surveys.
